Mülheim an der Ruhr, 10 March 2015 –
In the ALEX I plant of the air conditioning specialist Menerga based in Mülheim, one of the most modern plate heat exchanger production facility for HVAC systems was put into operation. A robot cell, consisting of three industrial robots, produces plate heat exchangers in all required installation sizes fully automated for use in swimming pool and comfort air conditioning applications.
"Production by fully automated robot systems always has special advantages. Production robots work very precisely and quickly, which means we can guarantee a consistently high level of quality." Raul Corredera, production manager at Menerga is proud of the new system. The robot system processes single heat exchanger plates up to a size of 6 m2. Up to 18 m of adhesive bead are applied per minute. We were able to considerably increase the production capacity of heat exchangers through the shortened production time, which is very positive in the face of increasing demand. All in all, this enables us to deliver a lot quicker."
The production launch of the robots ushered in a new era at Menerga. The installation of the system started at the beginning of 2014. "It takes time to build up such a complex system," says Corredera. "Every single process step is taught. A large number of test runs were performed to ensure that the systems can work independently." The series production started at the end of 2014, initially with counter-current plate heat exchangers in a total of 40 different shapes.
